The Stunning Wedding of Natalie and James at Mansfield Traquair!

Natalie&James-Wedding-1556bw (2)I had the pleasure of marrying this wonderful couple just a few months ago in April. The wedding was meticulously planned with every detail thought of and coordination down to a tee. The venue and of course the bride and groom looked just amazing! And their love for each other was very clear to me from the moment I met them and just shone through on the day.

Their script was personal and I particularly loved the story of their first date, especially the sushi shoveling bit:

The very next day they had their first official date. Although Natalie almost cancelled after a long 3 hour dance session with a hangover from the night before but she was very glad she didn’t. James took Natalie to one of his regular dating haunts, a sushi bar in Soho. His previous dates had always made a concerted effort to use the chopsticks but Natalie, realising very quickly that she couldn’t use them at all, proceeded the shovel it in with her hands. From that moment on James knew that this was something special and Natalie felt the same. From that day they have been inseparable.

I loved that they involved their parents in the ceremony too:

Natalie and James have chosen and ancient Scottish tradition to symbolise their union today and will drink from the Quaich with their 2 families.

Natalie and James, in a close and personal way, your marriage is a uniting of these two families that bore and raised you.   By uniting together, each of you joins the family of the other to bear its strengths and promise into the future as it lies within your ability to do.   Having this acknowledged is an important matter.  For this reason, I would ask this of the families from which you come (BOTH DADS TO COME AND STAND AT THE FRONT):

(Turning to Bride’s Father)

Do you, Brian, as a representative of Natalie accept James as Natalie’s lifelong partner, and thereby as one of your own?

Bride’s father:  Yes, we do.  (Gives glass of champagne to Groom)

 (Turning to Groom’s Father)

Do you, Allan, as a representative of James’s family, accept Natalie as James’s lifelong partner, and thereby as one of your own?

Grooms father:  Yes, we do. (Gives glass of champagne to Bride)

 (Turning to Bride and Groom)

Please pour the champagne you hold into this Quaich.   As the champagne mingles and unites to become one, so do your families join and become one.   When you have made your vows of commitment to each-other, after your vows you will drink from this Quaich to seal the promises that have been made with your families.

What a wonderful couple. My absolute pleasure to marry them. All the best for the future and thank you for sharing your wonderful pictures with me.
